The following is the warranty information that you receive when paying for your tree(s):
Warranty Terms
All trees planted by Meador Nursery shall be warrantied for one year
beginning upon completion of the installation. We do not guarantee
tree performance including dieback.
Tree replacement will be at no charge if Meador Nursery is notified of a problem as soon as it arises. Call us at 940-382-2638 at the first sign of any issue so we are able to assess and correct any problems. Failure to do so will void the warranty.
Our warranty will not apply when a tree dies from an act of Mother Nature (i.e. fire, freezes, ice storms, high winds, drought, insects, diseases, hail, theft or water rationing).
The warranty will be voided if soil and/or plants are placed on top of the root ball during the first year or if tree is not watered properly. See Tree Watering and Care below.
Any tree eligible for replacement shall be removed and replaced with a tree of equal or lesser value as soon as the season permits. The first replacement is at no cost. The second replacement will be at half the cost. Any additional costs or extenuating circumstances in relation to the tree planting or replacement will be the responsibility of the owner.
Tree Watering and Care
The owner assumes maintenance of the tree upon completion of the installation. These instructions MUST be carefully followed to keep from voiding the warranty of the tree.
The root system will take about 18 months to several years to re-establish itself into the surrounding ground. During this time, care must be concentrated on keeping the root ball moist at all times but not in standing water.
Each soil type drains differently. Some soils hold water while others drain more quickly. Standing water will kill a tree
by keeping the roots from absorbing oxygen. On the other hand, letting the root ball dry out will distress the tree, making it susceptible to further issues including the death of the tree.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the care of your new tree, don’t hesitate to call us at 940-382-2638.
WATERING
Recommended method of watering is to soak directly on top of the root ball. To best water your new tree, pull your hose to the base of the trunk and allow a slow trickle. The following sections will address how often to water and how long each time.
How often?
First 18 months
60 degrees - once every 2 weeks
70 degrees – once every 10 days
80 degrees - once every 7 days
90 degrees and above- twice every 7 days
How long?
With your hose at a slow trickle:
• 7 gal: 10-15 minutes
• 10-15 gal: 15-30 minutes
• 30-45 gal: 30 minutes-1 hour
• 3 inch (and larger): 1.5 hours
One inch of rainfall (no less) will replace one watering.
SPRINKLERS
We ask that you DO NOT rely on a sprinkler system
to water your newly planted tree unless you are using a bubbler attachment. A sprinkler system only soaks the top inch of the ground and is NOT enough to reach the root zone which is typically 18” to 24” inches below the surface. For this reason, you must follow the watering schedule and technique detailed above. Failure to water sufficiently will VOID the warranty.
FERTILIZER
Do not fertilize the tree during the first year unless you are using a root stimulator. Most other fertilizers will encourage top growth, whereas a root stimulator will support the necessary root development. After the first year, apply fertilizer only during the growing season according to directions.
